Tampa MRI Radiologist, Dr. Alan Cousin is board certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology with additional qualifications in Vascular and Interventional Radiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology. Dr. Cousin received his medical degree from the University of Miami and completed his residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center. In addition, he earned an M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at University of Toronto, and B.S.E.E. with honors in Electrical Engineering at Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Cousin is a member of the American College of Radiology, Society of Interventional Radiology, Radiological Society of America, Clinical Magnetic Resonance Society, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Hillsborough County Medical Society and has authored over 75 academic publications.
Certified by the American Board of Radiology and also by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Cousin is currently the Clinical Director and radiologist in active clinical practice at Bayview Radiology in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Cousin provides independent reads, written reports, expert testimony, and other consulting services to attorneys and organizations, and has amassed considerable experience giving expert testimony. Dr. Cousin received his BA from Harvard University graduating Magna Cum Laude, his MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and completed his radiology residency training from Yale – Norwalk Hospitals and University of Florida Shands Hospital – Gainesville programs. In addition, Dr. Cousin completed his postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University – NY Presbyterian in Whole-Body Imaging, including PET-CT imaging and Nuclear Radiology. Dr. Cousin served as the Program Director for the Radiology Residency at Columbia University’s Harlem Hospital affiliate. Dr. Cousin has given numerous radiology lectures and presentations both locally and at national conferences. Dr. Cousin was the Medical Director at Delray Imaging Associates, and is currently the Clinical Director and lead radiologist in private practice at Bayview Radiology in Tampa, Florida.
Dr. Sylvia Gyapong is a fellowship-trained radiologist with subspecialty focus on Breast Imaging. After receiving her BS from from Duke University, Dr. Gyapong received her M.D. from Meharry Medical College, making the Dean’s List every year and receiving the Merck Manual Award for outstanding contribution to the college and and for graduating with Highest Honors. Dr. Gyapong completed the remainder of her postgraduate training at prestigious institutions such as Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia, where she completed her transitional year, University of Florida in Gainesville where she completed her Diagnostic Radiology residency, and Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami where she completed her Breast Imaging Fellowship. Dr. Gyapong’s long list of accolades are almost too long to list for this short bio, but some of them include: The World Peace Scholarship, The Catherine McCain Berry Award, the Joseph Jackson Award, the Elizabeth McDaniel Woodward Award, the McGraw Hill Lange Award, the Pfizer Minority Medical Award, the Alma Wells Givens Award, the R.A. Mayer Award, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Award…well, you’re starting to get the picture!
Haris Turalic, M.D. MACC is a noninvasive cardiologist with expertise in all aspects of non-invasive cardiology, including inpatient care with consultations in the ER, CCU, ICU, and telemetry, office outpatient, and following diagnostic and invasive procedures. He is experienced with cardiology imaging such as Cardiac CT, transthoracic, transesophageal and stress echocardiography, nuclear cardiology procedure including stress testing, viability, MUGA, cardioversion, transvenous pacemaker insertion, pulmonary artery catheter insertion, pulmonary artery catheter insertion, PPM and ICD interrogation and management skills, Holter and event monitors, and Tilt Table Tests. Dr. Turalic completed medical school training from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York University for Internship and Residency, and Cardiology Fellowship from North-Share-LIJ Health System New York University. Dr. Turlic is currently President of his own private and reads all cardiology imaging and EKGs performed at BayView Radiology.
Dr. Winston Irving is a talented radiologist who recently joined our staff. After completing his medical school at Albert Einstein, Dr. Irving did a radiology residency at Georgetown University Hospital and a Musculoskeletal Radiology Fellowship at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. He is currently the president of Irving Radiology. With an expertise in teleradiology and radiology information practice technology, we are grateful to have Dr. Irving join our radiology staff at BayView Radiology.
Dr. Michael Illovsky is a retired Navy Captain, awarded the Legion of Merit of his service. His 20-year Naval career took him on exciting adventures around the world. While on active duty, he served as Chief of Cardiology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Illovsky completed his Doctor of Medicine at Georgetown University and completed his fellowship in Cardiology at National Naval Medical Center.
